Cemetery in Rubezhevichy

Cemetery with Polish gravestone monuments. Information about the cemetery has been published (see bibliography).

According to Anna Lewkowska, Jacek Lewkowski and Wojciech Walczak, "the church and the churchyard cemetery are located in the centre of the town, on an asphalt road. The church square is rectangular in shape, surrounded by buildings, fenced with a stone wall, plastered, with a gate on the south-eastern side, made in 1924. The Church of the Protection of St. Joseph was built in 1911, of stone blocks, on a rectangular plan. (...) In the north-eastern corner of the church square there is an obelisk with the figure of Christ, founded in 1997 by descendants of Rubieżowice families living in Poland and dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Second World War. Next to the obelisk is located the only gravestone in the cemetery - a vertical granite slab with a cross on the grave of priest Władysław Szymański (d. 1925)." The cemetery is maintained in good condition.

According to Lewkowski and Walczak, the active Catholic cemetery has a trapezoidal plan and an area of 0.25 ha surrounded by a stone wall. It was created in the 19th century. The oldest gravestone, dating from 1824, commemorates Julia Rechniewska, née Woynów. Its inscription reads: "TU SPOCZYWA W BOGU / JULIA Z WOYNÓW / RECHNIEWSKA / ZDARŁA W 1824 R.". The cemetery is preserved in good condition. In the centre there is a grave of unknown soldiers of the Home Army and the Home Army who died in 1920-1939-1943.The following inscription is worth noting: "I TAUGHT YOU THE FAITH / DO NOT RENOUNCE IT / REV. PIOTR PUPIN / 15 VIII - 1912 9. VIII. 1979 / 1939-47 IN CHOŻÓW / 1947-55 IN KOMI. ASSR 1955-79 IN RUBIEŻEWICZ".
