Grave in the Franciscan (zaniemeński) cemetery of Polish Army soldiers killed in the Polish-Bolshevik war

Not far from the main cemetery avenue is a mass grave of unnamed heroes who died in 1920, when units of the Polish Army fought fierce defensive battles for Grodno. This grave was destroyed after World War II. It was restored in the 1990s with a large concrete slab and a metal cross. A small metal plaque with an inscription (this is the original pre-war plaque from this grave, funded by the pre-war Polish Tobacco Monopoly Factory in Grodno. The inscription reads: "To the nameless heroes fallen in the fight / for Poland's independence / in Grodno 1920. / Z.S. At Wytw. P.M.I. in Grodno". Due to the fact that the grave is situated with its back to the cemetery avenue, a few years ago the General Consulate of the Republic of Poland in Grodno placed at the base of the cross (from the side of the cemetery avenue) an information plate with the inscription: "Quarters of soldiers of the Polish Army 1920".
