Biography:

Ignatius Domeyko (1802-1889), geologist, mining mineralogist, meteorologist, also explorer of South America. He was granted Chilean citizenship in 1848. One of Adam Mickiewicz's friends, he served as the prototype of Żegota from the third part of 'Dziady'.
