Biography:

Jerzy Walerian Skolimowski was born on 9 December 1907 in Łuków. He studied architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology. In the mid-1920s he began his rowing career as a helmsman. He took part in three Olympic Games. He participated in the Defensive War during the Second World War. He was awarded the Order of Virtuti Militari for his services in the Vosges. He died on 12 February 1985 in London and is buried in Powązki Cemetery.
