Biography:

Kazimierz Chodziński (1861-1921), born in Łańcut, son of Karol Chodziński and Zofia née Dubielowska, sculptor, medallist. He learned sculpture from Piotr Kozakiewicz, then from 1878 studied at the School of Fine Arts in Kraków under the tutelage of Walery Gadomski and Jan Matejko. In 1985, thanks to a scholarship he received, he went to Vienna to study at the Academy of Fine Arts there, where he was a pupil of Edmund von Hellmer. Upon his return to Krakow in 1887, he founded his own atelier, which he called the Department of Church Artistic Sculpture. In 1903, he left for the United States, where he designed the statue of Tadeusz Kościuszko, which stood in Humboldt Park in Chicago, and the statue of General Kazimierz Pułaski in Washington. In 1910 he returned to Europe and settled in Lvov, where he opened a sculpture studio where he created medallions and plaques.
