Tombstone of Franciszka Hutnik

Korościatyn | Ukraine

Burial site marked by a statue of the Virgin Mary on a two-stage plinth and base. Statue on its own base. Mary shown frontally, hands bent at the elbow, with her right hand pointing to the burning heart, her left hand held slightly lower, in it a lily. She is dressed in a long, heavily ruffled robe tied at the waist, with sharply defined folds arranged vertically. Her bare feet stick out from underneath it. A veil is placed on her head, and a cloak with wide-open sides is draped over her shoulders. The face is oval, with a slightly outlined mouth and nose, and long hair falling to the shoulders. The first step of the pedestal with profiled upper edges. The second step of the pedestal slightly tapering towards the top, covered with a panel with Ionic kimatation, peaks on four sides and acroterions on the corners. On the front an engraved inscription (2).
