Tombstone of the Varnaś family

Vilnius | Lithuania
The burial place is marked by a square tomb at the head of which there is a two-stage wall topped by a cross in a band. Cross on a plinth with chamfered upper edges. Traces of a Christ figure at the intersection of the arms. The first step of the wall rectangular, on the front two terrazzo plaques with engraved inscription. The second level of the wall with a rectangular projection framed on the sides by two risalits surmounted by a triangular pediment; in the pediment of an oval niche a metal medallion with a cast image of the Virgin Mary. Mary depicted up to her shoulders, gaze downwards, veil on her head, wearing a robe. To the front a plaque with a ritual inscription. Above the plaque an oval space for a photograph. On the band to the front an engraved inscription. The central part flanked by lower sections of the wall ending in higher cuboids. The band connected to the wall with two stepped plinths capped with hipped roofs, connected by double metal bars and chains. On the band in the upper left corner the artist's signature.
