Monument to the Fallen Poles

Figure of an eagle originally carrying white sandstone on a base and three-stage pedestal of red sandstone. Figure of eagle (140 x 115 x 110) depicted frontally, now partly damaged including lost head and wings (in the left one a fragment of a cast iron armature survives). The wings partly spread, falling downwards. A stone chain attached to the left leg, the lower link of which, at the level of the figure's base, is shattered. The claws are stuck into the ground. Below to the front on the second step of the pedestal on a field decorated with glazing is a relief inscription (1). From the front the left corner of the plinth is encircled by a thorn passing over the base of the figure. The first and second steps of the pedestal in the form of interlocking steps of partially worked stone blocks. Behind the figure is the third step of the plinth supporting it. From the front, cut at 120 degrees, with softly drawn lines, it forms the background for the figure. Bevelled at 45 degrees from the top, it forms the base of a cross decorated with glazing, the lower arm now preserved. Below on the second step of the plinth a stone rectangular pot.

The quarters of Polish soldiers killed in the battles of 1918-1919, and possibly also of those who died in the Ukrainian prisoner of war camp located in Strusowo. There are 42 crosses preserved, the layout of the quarters regular, originally probably with about 140 burial places. Already in the interwar period some of the soldiers' graves acquired more monumental sculptural forms. Within the plots there are later burials.mostly distorting its original character.

Behind the monument there was a burial area for the fallen with originally about 140 burial places arranged in regular rows. The crosses immediately behind the memorial were situated on a north-south axis, with further crosses on a north-east axis. Preserved 42 simpler crosses framed (82 x 48 x 8). Originally with attached, probably metal, inscription plaques. Some of the crosses overturned.
