Biography:

Stanisław Zbigniew Franczak (1920-1944), born in Luborzyca, son of Stanisław and Katarzyna Helena, second lieutenant pilot in the Polish Air Force in Great Britain. In 1939, he graduated from the Adam Mickiewicz High School in Vilnius. After the outbreak of war, he made his way to France and then to Great Britain. In Scotland, he completed an abbreviated course at the Polish Officer Cadet School. He flew in No. 304 Squadron, then volunteered for No. 1586 Special Duties Squadron. He made several flights over Warsaw. He was killed when the aircraft he was piloting was brought down over the town of Senta on the night of 10-11 September 1944.
