Biography:

Tadeusz Gwiazdowski (1889-1950), born in Warsaw, son of Wiktor Grosstern, a January Uprising insurgent, and Amelia Starkman. He took part in the 1905 school strike, and belonged to youth independence organisations. In 1914, he graduated from the School of Political Science in Paris, and was later active as a journalist in France and Switzerland. He was a distinguished Polish diplomat. In 1918, he took up the post of secretary of the Polish embassy in Bucharest, and in 1919 returned to Warsaw working for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He was a member of the Polish delegation to the League of Nations from 1922 to 1933, and was deputy director of the Political Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1934 to 1939. After the outbreak of WWII, he began working at the Polish embassy in Paris, and from 1941 in London for the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 1945 to 1950, he held the post of Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Polish Government in Exile. He was a member and co-founder of the Institute for the Study of International Affairs.
