Biography:

Piotr Żiwobski, born in 1750, was a sculptor of Polish origin who worked mainly in the Gorenjska region of Slovenia. In 1772, he arrived in Ljubljana and joined the local guild of sculptors and woodcarvers, which soon, fearing competition, expelled him from its ranks, after which he took up work in the workshop of Valentin Vrbnik (1714–1799) in Kranj.

He subsequently established his own workshop in Podbrezje, where he carried out commissions for altars for the parish church and other places of worship in the region. In the 1770s and 1780s, he was very active in the Gorenjska region, creating numerous late Baroque altarpieces.

In 1782, he married Franciszka Zaparin, with whom he had three children. After 1786, his whereabouts are unknown.
