The inscription on the monument, in Polish, Serbian and Hungarian, reads:
“On 10 September 1944, near the town of Senta, whilst bringing aid to insurgent Warsaw, the following airmen were killed in action
Second Lieutenant Stanisław Franczak
Second Lieutenant Mieczysław Foczpaniak
Staff Sergeant Jerzy Truszkowski
the crew members of the Liberator EW278 GR-U from the 1586th Special Purpose Squadron of the Polish Air Force.
“In their memory”
The official unveiling of the memorial took place on 10 September 2021, on the 77th anniversary of the aircraft being shot down. The memorial was designed by the renowned sculptor Marek Moderau. The project was carried out under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, in cooperation with the Partnership for Central and Eastern Europe Foundation, the authorities of the town of Senta and the Polish Embassy in Belgrade.
