Graves of Poles from World War II in the municipal cemetery

In the municipal cemetery in Altenburg (Thuringia), there is a war cemetery named the "Soviet-Polish Cemetery of Honour". 110 Polish citizens rest here: forced labourers and concentration camp prisoners, including a group of women deported during the Warsaw Uprising, who were killed on 30 November 1944 in the bombing of the Hasag armaments plant in Meuselwitz.
In 2020-2021, the Polish-German Reconciliation Foundation, within the framework of a task subsidised by the Ministerial Programme "Sites of National Remembrance Abroad", compiled data on the buried persons and made it available, together with a description of the cemetery, on the website of the project "Polish Memorials and War Graves in Germany": https: //polskiegroby.pl/cmentarz.php?jez=pl&cmentarzok=89&landok=16
