Villa Poniatowski in Rome

Villa Poniatowski in Rome

The estate is named after Prince Stanislaw Poniatowski, nephew of Stanislaw August Poniatowski. The prince moved to Rome and bought the historic 15th-century palace there in 1781. The prince restored the palace and gardens with the help of the architect Giuseppe Valadier. In the palace he managed to assemble a world-famous collection of paintings, sculptures and cameos, as well as part of the archives of Stanislaus Augustus.
Today, the palace is part of the Museo Nazionale Etrusco - Villa Giulia complex.
