Biography:

Andrzej Pronaszko (1888-1961), born in Derebczyn, son of Franciszek and Felicja Bona (née Sawicka), painter, stage designer and pedagogue. He studied at the Cracow Industrial School, then at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, later in Munich and Paris. In 1917 he co-founded the Polish Expressionists, from 1919. Formists, and co-organised exhibitions of the Independents. In 1937, he was awarded a silver medal at the Parisian Art and Technology exhibition. During the occupation, he was active in the underground Theatre Council. After 1945 he lived in Warsaw, from 1957 he was a professor of the State Higher School of Theatre. He is buried in the Powązki cemetery.
