"Journey into the unknown with the Polonics Institute" - publication of the Polonika Institute

Between Lviv, Vilnius, Riga, Paris, Rome, Chicago and small towns in Zimbabwe, Tanzania or Uganda, the Polonica Institute, together with its collaborators and partners, has for the past five years been carrying out projects aimed at taking care of and restoring the memory of cultural heritage associated with Poland and Poles but remaining beyond the country's contemporary borders.

The richness and diversity of the objects that are the subject of our protection, research and popularisation make these journeys into the unknown even more remarkable. From the tombstone of John Casimir's heart created by the court artists of the French king, to historic temples in modern Ukraine, the railway network in the eastern lands of the Second Polish Republic, historic cemeteries, illusionist Baroque frescoes, easel paintings, and letters from the nobility to the Turkish pasha residing in the border fortress. Our work and projects are carried out wherever Polish artifacts are to be found or restored from oblivion, wherever Polish artists and engineers worked, wherever Polish emigrants settled, wherever important historical events took place.
