Biography:

Seweryn Gałęzowski was born on 25 January 1801 in Kniażej Krynytsia. He studied at Vilnius University where he earned a doctorate in surgery and obstetrics. He took part in the November Uprising as a military doctor. After the uprising, he had to flee the country and stayed in Germany and Mexico, among other places. However, he returned to Europe and settled permanently in France, where he was, among other things, a member of the Polish committee after the outbreak of the January Uprising. He died on 31 March 1878 in Paris.
