Tombstone of Seweryn Gałęzowski, internationally renowned surgeon, November insurgent, émigré, independence and social activist. Gałęzowski was awarded the Golden Cross of the Order of Virtuti Militari for his heroic assistance to wounded insurgents. Among Seweryn Gałęzowski's numerous achievements, it is necessary to mention his participation in the organisation of a university in Mexico City and the reorganisation and financial support of the Polish National School in Paris. The tombstone with a bronze bust of the deceased was made in 1865 by Władysław Oleszczyński, an outstanding representative of Romanticism in Polish sculpture, and the author of many monuments and tombstones of the Polish émigré circle in France.
