Adam Mickiewicz monument in North Macedonia

In the picturesque Macedonian town of Struga, located on the shores of Lake Ohrid, the Struga Poetry Evenings have been continuously organised since 1961. This unique event, which has acquired an international character since 1966, attracts poets and poetry lovers from all over the world every year. During this cultural feast, one selected individual has the honour of receiving the prestigious Golden Wreath Award, which recognises their contribution to world literature. Past winners have included prominent Polish poets Tadeusz Różewicz, awarded in 1987, and Adam Zagajewski, who received the honour in 2018.

A Pet Alley with busts of prominent poets has been created in Struga, located on the lakefront. Among them is also a bust of Adam Mickiewicz cast in bronze on a granite plinth.
