In the Japanese city of Hamamatsu, known among other things for the instrument manufacturing companies located there and for its music competitions and festivals, there is a statue of Fryderyk Chopin. The work is a gift from the city of Warsaw, commemorating an agreement on friendly cooperation and cultural exchange. The monument is a copy of the famous sculpture by Waclaw Szymanowski, located in Warsaw's Lazienki Park. The work, which was donated to Hamamatsu, was created in 1990 by the distinguished Polish sculptor Marian Konieczny.
