Rapha Modejski bridges

Harahan Bridge
The Harahan Bridge stands in company with two other bridges and connects the two banks of the Mississippi - one in Tennessee and the other in Arkansas. It is addressably attributed to the town of Proctor, Arkansas. It is the work of Ralph Modjeski, or Modrzejewski after his mother, who has a plaque on the bridge. The bridge is 1516m long and was built in 1916 as a two-way railway bridge with a roadway for vehicles. In 2011, the carriageway was converted into a pedestrian and cycle path (Big River Crossing).

The bridge was named in honour of James Harahan, a railway director who died tragically during its construction. All three bridges are historic - such a historic trio. Ralph Modjeski was the most prominent bridge designer of the 20th century.

The Huey P. Long Bridge
It runs over the Mississippi River in New Orleans. A National Civil Engineering Landmark. Named the Huey P. Long Bridge in honour of the assassinated governor of Louisiana. It was built in 1935 and widened in 2013 to a design by Modjeski and Masters. Modjeski was a teacher of Joseph Stuart, the designer of the Golden Gate in San Francisco.
