4 graves of Polish refugees

Following the German aggression against Poland on 1 September 1939 and the attack by the USSR on 17 September 1939, thousands of Poles, both civilians and soldiers, crossed the Hungarian border. Despite the difficult international situation and Hungary's affiliation with the Axis powers, the Hungarians were very sympathetic and provided assistance to the Polish refugees. The Poles were cared for - both by the Hungarian state and by Polish organisations operating in Hungary. The internees were placed in numerous military and civilian camps.
The number of Polish internees in the initial period of exile is estimated at about 140,000, including about 33,000 privates and officers. Over time, the number of refugees, mainly military, decreased as a result of the evacuation campaign organised by the Poles to France and the Middle East to Polish military units being formed there.
There are 4 graves of Polish refugees in the Catholic cemetery. They are situated close to each other, near the stately cross with the statue of Jesus and the saints, on both sides of the alley separating plots III and IV. Plot IV contains the grave of Marian Jasieński, a teacher of the Polish Gymnasium functioning in Balatonboglár during the Second World War. The grave has a modest wooden cross and a granite plaque with the coats of arms of Poland and Hungary and inscriptions in Polish and Hungarian: "Prof. Marian Jasiński / scoutmaster / * 1906 Berdyczów † 1943 Balatonboglar / professor of the grammar school in Rydzyna and in the years / 1939-1943 in the Polish Grammar School and Lyceum / in Zamardi and Balatonboglar / Honour His memory".
The other 3 graves are located on the other side of the alley next to each other in plot III. On the double grave of Capt. reservist Stefan Kazijak, died 10.04.1941 and Lt. reservist Kazimierz Podolski, died 18.05.1941, small stone plaques with inscriptions are placed: "LAPD. STEFAN KAZYAKA / KAPITAN W.P. / 1892-1941" and "KAZIMIERZ / PODOLSKI / ZYŁ 50 LAT". Adjacent to this grave is the grave of Faustyna Czaczkowska with a simple concrete cross together with a photograph of the deceased and an inscription plaque which reads: "ŚP. FAUSTYNA CZACZKOWSKA / D. 13.III.1943 / LIVED 73 YEARS".
