Monument to General Adolphe Le Flô in Lesneves by Cyprian Godebski

General Adolphe Le Flô was a French army general, politician and diplomat - he served, among other things, as Minister of War, and was also French Ambassador to St Petersburg, where he made the acquaintance of Cyprian Godebski, the future author of his monument, The artist, after Le Flô's death, made a proposal to the council of the general's home town, the Breton town of Lesneven near Brest, for a monument. The monument was unveiled in 1899. It depicts the figure of Le Flô in his general's uniform, on a plinth with four reliefs commemorating important events in his biography: the capture of the fortress of Constantine in Algeria, the battle against the Arabs, his speech to the National Assembly and his audience with Tsar Alexander II.
