Biography:

Aleksander Zalewski (1783-1878), born in Bychowo, son of Dominik Zalewski and Katarzyna Krzyżanowska, lieutenant-colonel of infantry, decorated with the Virtuti Militari Cross, served in the army of the Duchy of Warsaw. After his military career ended, he settled in Paris, where he lived in the St Casimir Institution, intended for Polish veterans. He died on 3 March 1878 in Paris (rue Chevarelet No 119). His death was reported by Stanisław Czyszkowski and Antoni Omiński, Polish refugees. He was 95 years old at the time of his death.
