Evacuation (Special) Hospital No. 3810 of the Gulag Complex No. 270 Borovichi was established by the NKVD in 1944 and existed until 1946. Formally, the hospital was subordinate to the Camp No. 270 Board, but functioned in principle as an independent unit.

The cemetery of this hospital was established in January 1945 and functioned until mid-1949, when it was closed and transferred under further supervision to the district branch of the Soviet Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) in Borovichi. Between 1951 and 1959 the cemetery was fenced with a wooden fence and the grave mounds were improved and re-marked. Subsequently, the condition of the cemetery deteriorated - in 1967 it was found that the fence was in need of repair, the grave markers had not survived and the entire cemetery area was overgrown with grass.

A total of 506 people are buried in the cemetery, including 292 Germans, 135 Poles, 31 Austrians, 29 Hungarians, 8 Estonians, 4 Czechs, 2 French, 2 Dutch, 2 Latvians and a Romanian.

The cemetery is located in the area of the village of Choromy, 2 km east of the Choromy machine-technical station; 200 m east of the Borovichi-Okulov road, 5 km west of the village of Pleso and 6 km from Borovichi. It occupies an irregularly shaped area of approximately 200 sq. m. The cemetery area is divided into 10 plots with a total of 56 mass graves.

In September 1994, as part of a ceremony in Borovichi, the burial place of Poles was permanently marked with a cross.
