Monastery cemetery in Sadowa Višnia

Situated in the middle of the city, at the foot of the former Reformati monastery, the cemetery was established in the early 19th century, according to Hauser. It is a very old cemetery, mainly with inscriptions in Polish. The oldest gravestones are the "Podolski" cross on the grave of Elisabeth Gross (d. 1808), with an archaic inscription, and the stone monument on the grave of Franz Salesius [...] (d. 1823).

Today the cemetery is no longer in use. It is picturesquely situated on the slope of the monastery hill.

Many of the tombstones are in a deplorable condition, but compared to other now defunct cemeteries (especially Catholic cemeteries) in the area, it is not so bad.

According to Hauser, many interesting tombstones have survived, such as the classicist (broken) ones: Izabela of Czezewicz Modrzejowska, with a sculpture of a preoccupied woman supported by a monument surmounted by a vase, and an imposing plinth surmounted by the figure of a child (without a head), supported by the same monument.

Further into the cemetery are the neglected tombstones of the former owners of Sądowa Wisznia - Jan Nepomucen Mars (d. 1924) and Eugenia of Jastrzębska Poraj Jasieńska (d. 1906), 'citizen of Ukraine', and of a local noble family - the counts of Łosia of Kulmiatycze in the form of three simple obelisks of grey stone.

Hauser also draws attention to the tombstones of Antonina Hołynska, crowned with an impressive sculpture (without a head); of former parish priests - Father Franciszek Zinkowski (died 1837), crowned with a sculpture of a woman leaning against a vase and Father Andrzej Sołtysik (died 189[...]) crowned with a statue of St Joseph and Child or a monument topped with a high cross on the grave of Jan Tyndyk (died 1892).

Documentation was made for the cemetery (1 cemetery card and 190 cards stored in the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage). Information about the cemetery published (see bibliography).
