Bavorov cemetery

The cemetery is located on the territory of the former (until 1939) Ternopil district. The cemetery is located on the southern outskirts of the village of Baworów. It was probably established around 1800, as indicated by the oldest preserved monuments. There are 138 preserved tombstones commemorating Poles who died before 1945, most of them in the south-eastern part. The layout of the cemetery is irregular in plan, with a designated main alley running from the gate. The south-western part of the cemetery is overgrown. A chapel in the northern part. Polish tombstones come from local workshops. Among the gravestone forms, crosses on a pedestal predominate, obelisks and several gravestones with figural sculpture from local workshops are also preserved. The oldest gravestone is classicist with a shattered finial. Among the oldest tombstones are bachelor crosses and tombstones, as well as a tombstone with a finial in the form of an urn. Of note is the monument to Canon Jan Szuber with a statue of an angel. Cleaning work organised by Studio East was carried out in 2016.

Comments on the state of preservation and visible restoration:

The general state of preservation of the gravestones is average. Some of the monuments overturned, some without preserved finials, numerous small defects, obliterated inscriptions. Several tombstones covered with a layer of soil. The cemetery is under care of the local community.
