Cemetery in Dubna

The cemetery was established before 1831, as indicated by the oldest surviving gravestone commemorating Jeżowski. According to local tradition, it was established at the end of the 18th century and was active until the Second World War. The cemetery is currently not in use and is designated as a park. As Zbigniew Hauser describes, "Almost all the gravestones are broken or without inscriptions. The only one preserved in relatively good condition is the gravestone of grey-black marble on the grave of Walerja née Weremińska Studzińska (d. 1906). Right next to it is the chapel with two annexes, devastated on the inside and not badly preserved on the outside". Zbigniew Hauser lists 16 gravestones, most of them in a very poor state of preservation. They are of little artistic value. Noteworthy is the inscription on an anonymous gravestone, unfortunately only partially legible, "Przechodniu chciey [...] bądź Dobroczynny / Zeszłemu [...] Wypłać Dług, [...] / Chrześcian wierzy / Tu mąż móy złożony [...] / Przyjaciół Potomstwa i żony / 18[...]". More information on the history of the cemetery can be found on Alexander Lapin's Facebook profile citing Yuri Pszeniczny. According to him, in the 18th century the cemetery was surrounded by a fence and gate . Just outside the gate was a bell tower. In the twentieth century a chapel was erected to which a A simple tree-lined avenue led to it". As the author goes on to say it was a wooden chapel , set square, shingled and topped with a metal cross . According to local tradition, the cemetery was supposed to have had an Irish landscape architect Dionysius Mickler, active in Volhynia (cf. https://www.facebook.com/groups/401536626655836/posts/1277403119069178/ ).

According to "Monitor Wołyński" https://monitorwolynski.com/pl/news/4393-sluzby-komunalne-uporzadkowaly-stary-cmentarz-katolicki-w-dubnie in May 2022, the cemetery was cleaned up by the Dubieńskie Towarzystwo Kultury Polskiej (Dubień Polish Cultural Association) and municipal services.

Documentation and a cemetery card (stored in the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage) were made for the cemetery. Information about the cemetery published (see bibliography).
