Polonné cemetery

The cemetery with Polish tombstones is described as a Polish cemetery and lies about a kilometre north of the town centre. It is an active and well-maintained cemetery. The entire cemetery covers an area of approximately 3 hectares. Zbigniew Hauser lists 15 inscriptions in Polish. The most impressive building is the chapel of the Karwicki family, built in neoclassical style at the end of the 19th century. Between rusticated pilasters there is an entrance with columns on both sides, above with a niche closed with an arch. The whole is surmounted by a pediment with a bas-relief emblem of the Swan coat of arms. In the cemetery there is also a brick chapel, similarly to the Karwicki Chapel, devastated inside.

The oldest gravestone is the monument on the grave of three children of the Karwicki family, who died between 1871 and 1878. The pedestal is topped with acroterions, with a rhymed inscription on the front and three relief children's heads above it. The gravestone of Hela Sroczyńska (d. 1916) is conspicuous by its form, in the shape of a sandstone column with an inscription sheet wrapped diagonally around the column. The gravestone of Robert Jasiński (d. 1908) has a similar form. As Hauser mentions the column was overturned at the time.

The cemetery in Polonné was cleaned up in 2011-2012 by young people from Legnica schools as part of their voluntary work. Based on the photographic material, it can be assumed that there are more Polish tombstones (about 20) and that they have been weeded, cleaned, and placed in their original position http://www.studiowschod.org.pl/mpolonne.htm .
