Cemetery in Vishnevo

Cemetery with Polish gravestone monuments. Information about the cemetery has been published (see bibliography).
According to Anna Lewkowska, Jacek Lewkowski and Wojciech Walczak, there is a cemetery with four tombstones at the Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The oldest, from 1844, crowns the grave of Adam Chrptowicz. It bears the Latin inscription: "D. O. M. / PUS MANIBUS ILLUSTRISSIMI / COMITIS ADAMO / SILLAVOR / CHREPTOWICZ / AUGUSTISM RUSSORUM / IMPERATORIS A CONSILIIS / ADUALIBUS / MORTUI VISZNIOWIAE / ANNO MDCCCXLIV / MENSIS DECEMBRIS DIE XIII". Other gravestones date from the 1st half of the 20th century.
The aforementioned authors also describe the active Catholic cemetery in Vishnevo. It has a roughly rectangular plan and an area of 1.3 hectares enclosed by a metal fence. A few tombstones from the first half of the 19th century and several dozen from the second half have survived. As Lewkowski and Walczak report, "A characteristic feature of the cemetery is the large number of cast-iron tombstones, coming from the local iron foundry, established by the owners of the estate, the Chreptowiczs." The oldest gravestone, from 1817, belongs to Jozef Nowosielski and bears the following inscription: "MEMORIAL / TO THE DEATH of the late JÓZEF / NOWOSJELSKIEGO / DOCTOR OF MEDICINE / FROM THE WIFE AND CHILDREN / SACRIFIED / DIED r. 1817 D. 14 / SIERP. BEING 55 YEARS OLD / ASKS FOR THREE HAIL MARYS". Noteworthy is also the inscription: "LIVED A LIVING PIOUSLY LOVED CNOTA / TO SUPPORT HIS FRIENDS HAD A CHOICE / FOR THESE FRIENDSHIP TO HIM / THIS MEMORIAL IS TO BE CELEBRATED BY HRAB MICHAEL / CHREPTOWICZ / 1860 R. JULIJ 1 DNIA / back: KSIĄDZ JERZY / OSZCZOKOLIŃSKI / Ś. P. BYŁY DZIEKAN / WISZNIEWSKI / DIED 1855 YEAR OF OCTOBER 12 DAY / MAYING THE AGE OF 72 (signed: "Wiszniew")". The cemetery is maintained in good condition.
