The former parish church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Skála

In 1816, the construction of a brick church began in Skalat and was completed in 1827, the same year the church, dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, was consecrated. Unfortunately, the church was destroyed by fire in 1898. It was rebuilt in 1900 according to a design by Teodor Talowski. In old photographs we can see the appearance of the church around 1890, before the tragic fire. Photo source: Digital collections of the National Library POLONA.
