Health home in Truskavets

Truskawiec, first mentioned in 1469, was part of the Polish royal estate. Thanks to its salt deposits and springs of healing waters, it developed as a spa town from the 18th century onwards. In 1880, the spa became part of the company headed by Adam Sapieha and, after renovation, offered numerous bathing rooms and accommodation. In 1911, under the leadership of Dr Rajmund Jarosz, a railway line was brought to Truskavets and electricity was introduced. In the 1920s, 286 villas, hotels and guesthouses were built, making Truskavec the most popular Polish spa resort. In an archive photograph from 1931, we can see the Health House of the Ministry of Communications employees. Photo source: Digital collections of the National Library POLONA.
