Biography:

Eleonora Glücksberg (1811-1892), born in Warsaw, daughter of Natan Glücksberg (1780-1831), representative of a well-known Warsaw family of publishers of Jewish origin, and Regina Gotschalk (1778-1852). Wife of Herman Epstein (married 1830).

The couple had four children:

  • Mikołaj Stanisław Epstein (1831-1902), a January insurgent and Siberian,
  • Mieczysław Epstein (1833-1914), banker and industrialist, Belgian consul in Warsaw,
  • Leon Epstein (1834-1903), banker,
  • Maria Epstein (1836-1881).

She died at the age of 81 at her home at 17 Rue Aguesseau in Paris (8th arrondissement). Her death was reported by, among others, Camille Leblanc, an estatesman (propriétaire), aged 44, resident in Paris at 8 Rue d'Anjou (AdP AD Paris 8e no. 1650 of 1892).

She was buried on 1 September 1892 in the Israeli cemetery in Paris. She is listed in the Burial Books as 'Glucksberg ve d'Epstein Eleonora', aged 81, resident in the 8th arrondissement (annual number 105).
