Grave of 5 residents of Olkieniki murdered on 25 May 1942.

In retaliation for killing a German the previous day, on 25 May1942, the Germans shot 21 men of Polish nationality.

Sixteen were shot in the morning, on the road leading from Vilnius to the town, on a field hill called Dziescinka, not far from the forestry station and the cemetery. They were buried at the place of death.

The other five Poles were killed in the evening near a forest near Smolarnia. They were: Adam Jabłoński, Witold Jodkowski, Adam Jungnikiel, Stanisław Kot and Adam Lewandowski. They too were buried at the place of death.

For many years the only commemoration of the grave of the five victims was a wooden cross. In the 1990s, the grave was fenced off with a metal fence and a new commemoration was erected. On the pedestal beneath the cross are three plaques - two of which are identical in shape, the third is completely different (probably added later). The inscriptions proclaim: "Here rest the inhabitants of OLKIENIK / shot by the German occupier / on 25 May 1942 / + Jungnikiel Adam + Jabłoński Adam / Jodkowski Witold + Kot Stanisław / + Lewandowski Adam" // "Honour their memory" // "To the Poles murdered / on 25 May 1942 / Eternal rest / racz dać Panie".
