Ludwikówka was a colony inhabited by Polish people. In 1943, there was a well-organised self-defence here, commanded by Jan Paradowski. The village was repeatedly attacked unsuccessfully by members of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA). As a result of a denunciation made to the Gestapo, the Germans pacified the village on 13.07.1943, in which the Ukrainian police also participated. The population, which did not manage to escape, was divided into two groups - men and boys were murdered, women and children were sent to the transit camp in Dubno. The number of victims of the pacification is estimated at around 170 people.

The bodies of the murdered were buried in a field near the forest. In 1994 Władysława Mucha placed a cross on this grave to commemorate the victims of this pacification. A plaque on the cross bears the wrong date - 1942 instead of 1943. On 12.07.2009 a memorial to the victims was unveiled on the mass grave. It was funded by the Council for the Protection of Struggle and Martyrdom Sites. It is a white sandstone cross with plaques on the sides bearing the names of the victims. Just behind it is an old wooden cross, painted blue with a metal plaque commemorating the tragedy in the village. Both crosses are surrounded by a low stone walling with a metal gate at the front. The inscription on the new memorial states: "Here was the village of Ludwikowka. This cross is a reminder of the village that was exterminated from the face of the earth by the Nazis on 13 July 1943. Remember and honour the memory of the villagers of Ludwikowka who were burnt alive".
