Graves of Polish exiles from World War II

Deep in the taiga there was a settlement for Poles who had been exiled here by the NKVD during the Second World War. Those who died of illness and exhaustion from working beyond their strength were buried in a cemetery near the settlement.
The Polish part of the cemetery with grave mounds was destroyed when the river flowing nearby broke the dam; the cemetery area was gradually overgrown with grass. The number of Poles buried here and their personalities are not known. It has been established that Mrs R. Fedzin's brother was buried in the cemetery. Currently, the necropolis lacks any marking of the burial places of Polish deportees.

Dense forest with birch and pine trees, an undergrowth of ferns and shrubs. Sunlight filters through the treetops, illuminating parts of the forest floor.
