Biography:

Józef Baerkman (1838-1919), malarz. Początkowo studiował jednocześnie na Wydziale Medycyny na Uniwersytecie Moskiewskim i w Akademii Sztuk Pięknych. Za udział w powstaniu styczniowym zesłany na Syberię. Jego obrazy przedstawiały zesłańców, malował też widoki Irkucka, gdzie przebywał w latach 1870-77.

Joseph Baerkman (1838-1919), painter. Initially studied simultaneously at the Faculty of Medicine at Moscow University and the Academy of Fine Arts. He was exiled to Siberia for his participation in the January Uprising. His paintings depicted exiles, and he also painted views of Irkutsk, where he stayed from 1870-77.
