Biography:

Józef Baerkman (1838-1919), malarz. Początkowo studiował jednocześnie na Wydziale Medycyny na Uniwersytecie Moskiewskim i w Akademii Sztuk Pięknych. Za udział w powstaniu styczniowym zesłany na Syberię. Jego obrazy przedstawiały zesłańców, malował też widoki Irkucka, gdzie przebywał w latach 1870-77.

Joseph Baerkman (1838-1919), peintre. Il étudie d'abord simultanément à la faculté de médecine de l'université de Moscou et à l'Académie des beaux-arts. Il est exilé en Sibérie pour avoir participé au soulèvement de janvier. Ses tableaux représentent des exilés et il peint également des vues d'Irkoutsk, où il séjourne de 1870 à 1977.
