Biography:

Józef Lubomirski (1785-1870), prince, conseiller privé in the Russian Empire and senator, was born on 26 September 1785 in Dubna. He was the son of Michał Duke Lubomirski and Magdalena Countess Raczyńska, husband of Dorota Countess Stecka, with whom he had a son, Marceli Lubomirski, and a grandson, Józef Maksymilian Władysław Lubomirski.

He died on 9 July 1870 in Paris, at his home in 18 rue Tronchet, aged 85. His death was reported by his grandson, Joseph Maximilian Prince Lubomirski, and the concierge Joseph Henri Poncey, both of whom resided at the same address (AdP, AD Paris 8e no. 1231 of 1870).

He was buried in the tomb of his wife, Dorothy Stecka, in the Père-Lachaise cemetery in Paris, in the 22nd Division, row 1, at Chemin du Bassin.

After his death, as Natalia Dzierzbicka reported in a letter to Jadwiga Lubomirska née Jabłonowska (Marceli Lubomirski's wife), Marceli Lubomirski's corpse, which had initially been buried in the cemetery at Neuilly-sur-Seine, was 'secretly' transferred to the same tomb.
