Biography:

Józef Malach (1877/79-1933), was born in Grodzisk Dolny. He graduated from the State School of Wood Industry in Zakopane. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków and was a pupil of Konstanty Laszczka. After Poland regained independence, he worked as a teacher at the State School of Wood Industry in Stanislawow, where he settled and lived until his death. He made a design for the Legionary monument (1927), a retouch and a copy of the Adam Mickiewicz monument, which was cast in the Lopienski Brothers company in Warsaw (1930). He collaborated in the creation of a monument to the murdered members of the Polish Military Organisation (1922). He created many sculptures depicting well-known citizens of Stanislawow, including Eng. Stanislaw Trela and Dr. Jan Gutt. According to his design, a monument was erected in 1931 in honour of the heroes of the fights for the nation's freedom 1830-1920 in Translator. He was buried in the now defunct Sapieżyński Cemetery in Stanisławów.
