Biography:

Julian Fałat (1853-1929), born in Tuligły, painter, watercolourist, specialising in landscapes and hunting scenes. His work combined realism with an impressionistic approach to light and colour. He served as rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow from 1895 to 1909.

He studied in Krakow, Zurich and Munich. He worked at the court of Kaiser Wilhelm II, gaining international recognition. He introduced reforms at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków and co-founded the Society of Polish Artists "Sztuka".

In 1919, he volunteered for the Polish Army. After World War I, he lived in Toruń, engaging in cultural life. He spent his last years in Bystry.
