Next year, the construction of the Great Basilica is to begin, to be erected near Liège, on the site where the first clash between Belgian and German troops took place, which gave the password for the start of the World War. Poland was offered a separate chapel. In addition to representatives of the main victorious countries, the President of the Republic of Poland, Mr St Wojciechowski, was invited to join the Committee of Honour. The Belgian envoy in Warsaw, Mr de l'Escaille, is to invite representatives of the arts shortly to discuss the design of the appearance of the Polish chapel. Will the choice of these representatives of the arts be entirely private and arbitrary, or will our authoritative factors, having finally understood the importance of art for foreign propaganda, conduct the matter in a way that does not harm our artistic culture (despite all its shortcomings)?
