Sieniawski Chapel in Brzeżany in old photographs

In the 16th century, a church dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary was built in the courtyard of the Brzeżany castle, with the foundation of Adam Hieronim Sieniawski. The richly decorated church, filled with works of art, was in time transformed into the Sieniawski family mausoleum. It was regarded, along with the collegiate church in Żółkwi, as one of the most important places of its kind in the former Republic of Poland. After the Sieniawski family died out, the building began to fall into disrepair, and the vault collapsed. In photos from the early 20th century, we can observe the chapel still in relatively good condition.
