Conservation of stained glass from the collection of the Polish Museum in America

The Polonica Institute is collaborating with the Polish Museum in America in Chicago to carry out conservation work on artefacts in the institution's collection.

The Polish Museum in America is a treasury of extraordinary artefacts, a testimony of Polish art and culture - above all of the inter-war Polish period. The core of the collection is a collection of exhibits from the Polish Pavilion at the 1939 World Exhibition in New York. These did not return to the country due to the outbreak of the Second World War.

The Polonica Institute supports The Polish Museum of America in carrying out conservation work on objects that require it. To date, some eighty exhibits have already been successfully treated. Another are two beautiful stained-glass windows undergoing restoration in a workshop that has been working on top-class monuments for four generations and has just completed work on a Tiffany dome from the Cultural Centre in Chicago.
