Marek Zemła belonged to the group of three architects who won the competition for the design of the Islamic Cultural Centre in Madrid around 1979. Together with him, the authors were Joanna Singer-Zemła and Jan Czarny. The centre includes a mosque, which is the largest shrine of this religion in Spain.
