In the Montparnasse cemetery, located on boulevard Edgar Quinet, there is a tombstone commemorating the Polish writer and poet, political and independence activist General Ludwik Mierosławski (1814-1878). Mierosławski went down in history as a member of the Polish Democratic Society, supreme leader of two uprisings in Greater Poland (1846, 1848), leader of the uprisings in Sicily, the Rhineland and the Palatinate, and first dictator of the January Uprising. After the defeat of the uprising, he was in exile in France from 1863, where he worked as an editor and history teacher at the Polish School.

The tombstone consists of a stone gravestone and a veristic image of the deceased in the form of a bronze bust on a stone pedestal from 1883. The author of the bust of the general with a melancholic gaze into the distance is the internationally renowned Polish sculptor Cyprian Godebski (1835-1909). An inscription is engraved on the pedestal to identify the tombstone: "General Ludwik Mieroslawski 1814-1878 EXILE POLONAIS".
