In sector 11 of the Père-Lachaise cemetery is the tombstone of the distinguished family of Polish doctors, the Gałęziowskis. The tombstone is crowned by a neo-classical figure of an angel resting on a high sargofagi with a bouquet of flowers on her knees, her right hand raised in a gesture of scattering flowers over the grave. The sculpture, made in 1886 of white veined marble, was created by Cyprian Godebski, one of the most prominent Polish sculptors of the era. The artist's craftsmanship is evidenced by the realistic draping of the himation and the precise rendering of the details of the figure's face and hair.

The tomb rests the remains of:

Xawery (Xavier) Gałęzowski (3.01.1832-22.03.1907) - a Lipowiec-born ophthalmologist, inventor, chairman of the board of the Polish School at Batignolles, Officer of the National Order of the Legion of Honour

his wife, Augusta Gałęzowska, née Tamberlick (26.04.1849-3.02.1918), and her relatives: her parents, Françoise (née Ballarani) (1830-1884) and the tenor Enrico Tamberlick (1820-1889), and her brother, Alfred (1860-1915)

as well as the couple's children:

Henri Gałęzowski (7.10.1875-17.05.1938)

Jean Gałęzowski (17.05.1877-6.03.1937) - ophthalmologist, chevalier of the Legion of Honour

Maria Gałęzowska (29.05.1880-25.03.1965)

Jadwiga (Hedwige) Gałęzowska (1882-1886).

In addition, a marble plaque on the tombstone commemorates Jean Gałęzowski's wife, Odette née Levylier (7.01.1893 - deported in November 1943).
