Tombstone of the Mongird family

Vilnius | Lithuania
Burial place marked by a cross on a three-tier plinth and two-tier base. Cross on moulded plinth. Second step of base and first step of plinth with chamfered upper edges. Second step of plinth with moulded upper edges. On the front (1), right (2) and left (3) sides an engraved inscription. The third step of the plinth strongly tapering upwards, with chamfered lower edges, with plain frieze, covered with moulded panel. On the front a profiled ceramic medallion with convex carved Virgin Mary. The whole is enclosed by a fence consisting of a high band and five plinths, connected by a cast-iron bar on the front right by a chain-link, on the back and right by a low wall.

According to Wacław Wejtka's file, the gravestone was decorated with a bas-relief of the Virgin Mary. Until 9 September 1936, there was a wooden cross in the fence commemorating Michael Mongird. The tin plaque bore the inscription: Ś. + P. / Doktór Michał / Mongird / Died aged 65 / Died d. d. 16 Sierp. 1919. //.
