Information about the object:

1. Attic and sculptures on All Saints Church and Benedictine Monastery in Lviv

The church and monastery complex is located at 2 Wilcheva Square (former Benedictine Square), at the foot of the High Castle, on the territory of the Krakowskie Przedmiescie (also called Zolkiewskie). It was the oldest Catholic female monastery, in the Ruthenian lands of the Polish Crown. The monastery complex of Benedictine nuns of the Latin rite was founded after 1593, when Adam Szaporowski of Junosza coat of arms, at the instigation of his daughter Katarzyna Szaporowska, donated her dowry, as well as that of her sisters Anna and Krystyna, for the establishment of the monastery. The oldest part of the monastery is the south wing, which is a converted former manor house of the Herburts from the 2nd half of the 16th century. In 1595, the establishment of the monastery was approved by Archbishop Jan Dmitri Solikowski, and in 1596 by Pope Clement VIII and King Sigismund III Vasa. In 1597, the ceremonial awarding of the first habit to six nuns, including the founder's daughter Catherine Szaporowska, took place.

It is known from sources that Paweł Rzymianski, who mentioned in his will in 1618 that he had worked for the monastery and there was not much left to complete its construction, worked on the foundation. It is not known, however, exactly what scope of work the Roman's commitment to the monastery encompassed. In 1623, the foundation buildings were destroyed by fire, and the reconstruction of the already brick church, as indicated by the date on the rainbow arch, was completed by 1624, on the initiative of the Prioress Anna Szaporowska. However, work continued until 1627 and, according to unconfirmed sources, the reconstruction was directed by the Lvov architect Jan Pokorovich. In 1627, the church was consecrated by Archbishop Jan Andrzej Próchnicki. The monastery and church were given special protection by Polish kings. In 1670, King Michał Korybut Wiśniowiecki granted the monastery the right to brew beer and three breweries, and in 1676, King Jan III Sobieski, allowed the monastery to establish its own jurydyka, based on Magdeburg law. During the first century of its existence, the monastery grew rapidly and numbered around 60 sisters. In 1717, the church was renovated. In the 18th century, a magnificent Baroque gate, decorated with paintings and sculptures, was built at the entrance to the monastery courtyard. The entrance to the monastery was a three-column loggia supported by three columns. The decoration of the building facades was also changed during the reconstruction. In 1889, the monastery was extended with a new west wing. In 1772, at the time of the first partition of Poland, there were 25 nuns living in the monastery. The school run by them saved the monastery from Austrian suppression. In 1889, the buildings were extended with a new west wing. In 1933, the Benedictine nuns became part of the reborn Polish province of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. During this period they expanded the school by adding a new wing on the south side. The last mass in the Benedictine church was celebrated on 14 May 1946, after which the monastery and church were closed by the Soviet authorities.

The Benedictine nuns were forced to leave in May 1946 for the post-Cistercian monastery in Krzeszów in Lower Silesia. In the abandoned monastery, the building inventory office was placed and the altars in the church were demolished. After Ukrainian independence in 1990, the church and monastery complex was initially closed and then handed over to the Greek Catholic Studite Sisters. It now bears the name - All Saints' Church and Pokrovsky Monastery of the Studite Sisters.

The foundation was built on the outskirts of what was then Lviv, which is why the church, like the Bernardine monastery, was given a defensive character. This was emphasised by the high and thick defensive walls with buttresses and windows-arrows, as well as the massive, austere body of the single-nave church without a façade.

2. bas-relief by Teobald Orkasievich "Forging a Kos", on the façade of a building at А. Горської 5 in Lviv

The bas-relief by Teobald Orkasiewicz "Kucie Kos", together with its decorated frame, cornice and pinnacles, is one of three objects in Lviv depicting Polish patriotic motifs.

3. historic Ledóchowski column on the grounds of the Podkamień podominikański monastery, Ukraine

Ledóchowski's column stands in the courtyard of the Podkamień Podominican Monastery, now the Studite Order. It was founded in 1719 by Volyn Voivode Stanislav Ledóchowski to commemorate the departure of the Saxon and Russian armies from Poland. At the end of the 18th century, the column fell over and was rebuilt. In 1877, the column underwent restoration.

It is a classical column, free-standing, set on a high plinth, surmounted by a composite capitol, on which stands a statue of the Virgin and Child. The shaft of the column and the capitol are made of sandstone, the plinth and the steps of the staircase of sandstone or limestone (they are covered with a thick layer of mortar and paint). The statue was made of copper sheet, gilded. In the panels of the pedestal were installed in 1877 4 inscription plates, made of zinc (not preserved), which replaced an earlier text, probably carved in stone. A cast iron fence (not preserved) was erected around the column in 1877.
