On the occasion of Independence Day, a solemn ceremony was held in Sokolniki near Lviv. After a church service, conducted by catechist Father Kazimierz Borer, the school held an academy in the People's House. The head of the school, Mr T. Czarnecki, addressed the large audience, outlining the achievements of 20 years of work in a reborn Poland in the economic, cultural and social fields. At the end, as a proof of the real collective effort of the Falconers, he submitted the idea of making a heavy machine gun for the army. Later in the programme, the schoolchildren showed off with commemorative declamations and singing. A lecture on Independence Day was given by the teacher, Mr J. Pisarek, ending with a shout in honour of the President and Marshall Śmigły-Rydz, and the orchestra of the Voluntary Fire Brigade ended the ceremony with the playing of the National Anthem. Two days later, the unveiling and consecration of a monument to Falconers killed in 1918-1920 took place. After a solemn service celebrated by Rev. Canon J. Barzycki, a procession was formed, attended by numerous local people and guests from Lviv and the surrounding area. In front of the monument, numerous flag posts lined up, these being: Sokola IV, Sokola N, Union of Defenders of Lviv, Union of Hallerians, Volunteer Fire Brigade from Sokolniki, Public School from Sokolniki, People's Party and Union of Rural Youth "Wici". The ceremony began with a speech by the head of the school, Mr T. Czarnecki, on the name of the Committee for the Construction of the Monument, who emphasised the merits of the Sokolniks in the defence of Lviv and the enormous effort of the members of the Committee during the construction of the monument, which included the following: M. Boczula, M. Dudek, Antoni Pawełczek, Andrzej Szałęga, Jan Hublisz, Maciej Homisz, Tomasz Sokołowski, Jan Dunich, Józek Kulicz, Jan Beczmański, Jakób Lehman, Józef Najwer, Antoni Kroczak and Andrzej Gądorowski. The unveiling of the monument was performed in the place of the Governor by the head of the Provincial Office, Mr Gajewski, who in his speech mentioned the merits and sacrifices of the Polish peasants during the struggle for Independence. Then Rev. J. Barzycki consecrated the monument and gave an occasional sermon. After the consecration, the following spoke: Dr. Leslaw Wegrzynowski, president of the Chapter of the Cross of the Defence of Lviv, Major Domiczek, president of the Association of Defenders of Lviv, the president of the city of Lviv, Dr. Stanislaw Ostrowski, and the representative of the Rzesna Polska section, Mr. Piotr Walaszek.
